HODINKEE founder Ben Clymer called the latest edition of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calender “the hottest watch of SIHH 2017,” for a good reason.
Not only does the watch boast a matte black brushed ceramic case, but it also comes with a matching ceramic bracelet. According to AP, the case required over 600 hours of research to develop while each bracelet takes thirty hours to machine, polish, hand-finish and assemble — five times as long as the process takes for a steel version of the Royal Oak. As far as additional details go, the timepiece features the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar’s usual caliber 5134 while the “Grande Tapisserie” dial comes in slate grey with black registers.
The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in matte black brushed ceramic will launch later this year for a retail price of $85,000 USD.
